Marvel Avengers Cake

I didn't want to replicate it exactly, so my adaptations were that Thor's hammer is smashing the cake, while Hulk's hand grabs the side. Also I thought it'd be nice to have red, white & blue star-piping around the edge instead of plain white. The Avengers style 'K' ws my boyfriend's idea and stands for 'Katie'

All the modelling is handmade by me, mostly out of marzipan (Captain America's shield and cape are icing) with some cake bulking out the hand, Iron Man's mask and the hammerhead. The text on the hammerhead is (believe it or not!) exactly what it says on the real thing - just very tiny! - and written in edible ink. The only non-edibles here are the string on Hawkeye's bow (florist wire), cocktail sticks in the arrows, and a bit of dowelling in the hammer to keep it straight.

The cake itself is chocolate orange with vanilla buttercream. It brought the birthday girl to happy tears, so I think I did well!
